Opinion on the Construction and Layers

Layers reviewed: The Zenhaven mattress is 10 inches tall and contains only natural materials inside. The entire structure is supported by two Talalay latex cores that are aerated in order to maintain a good airflow. Right above the two cores, there is another layer of latex, thinner and more conforming under pressure that provides contouring and pressure support.

This layer is divided into five separated zones, each featuring a different level of firmness. The result is translated to variable support for each part of your body. Now, just like the layers underneath, this sheet of Talalay latex foam is also aerated.

Finally, right beneath the quilted organic cotton cover, there is a layer of organic New Zealand wool that serves as a flame retardant barrier and adds plushness and breathability to the entire surface.

Overall, the Zenhaven is a completely natural design, without any petroleum-based products involved in the manufacturing process.

Firmness (How it Felt)

Zenhaven features a characteristic that’s rarely found in other products: a customizable feel. Now, this doesn’t mean that you have to open the mattress up and start mixing the layers! It simply means that you can flip it over and you have a different firmness level.

Let’s talk a bit about this two-in-one feature:

On the side with two cores of latex, you’ll feel it is medium-firm with an inclination towards firm. This means you’ll be more on top of all the layers rather than deepening in them.

We started our review by testing this side of the surface and we were quite happy with the feel. There is little contouring but no sinkage and the bed responds fast to your every move.
