Latex mattresses are among some of the most durable and sought after sleeping surfaces, but the price is usually steep enough to keep most of the sleepers at bay. But this is not the case anymore!
Sleep on Latex decided it’s time to open the gates for everyone and offer the world the joy of snoozing on natural latex! The prices are accessible, the features are impressive, and the praises go sky-high, so you see why we felt it’s our duty to do a review.
During our review, we tested the surface and made sure it is up to the best quality standards. If you’re curious, check our results below or read the summary that’s waiting for you here.
Choose Sleep on Latex Pure Green Mattress If
- Natural fibers are important for you – Many sleepers don’t feel comfortable sleeping on memory foam because it is manmade, but they also can’t afford to buy a 100% organic design. Well, with Sleep on Latex products, you no longer have to worry about the cost or the composition! All the fibers are from Mother Nature!
- You want a hypoallergenic surface – Due to the organic latex, wool, and cotton, the Sleep on Latex surface is antimicrobial and doesn’t allow any creepy crawlies (bedbugs, dust mites, and so on) to settle in the foam.
- You like to buy from a local producer – Sleep on Latex has a factory in Chicago, and they do the assembly and sewing here.
- Bounciness and softness are important to you – Latex is naturally bouncy, and the wool and cotton brings in some softness, so if this is what you want, Pure Green is the perfect product!
Don’t Sleep on Latex Pure Green Bed If
- You want a viscoelastic design – This product is mostly based on natural latex, which is bouncy and responsive, taking the general feel away from the softness of viscoelastic. Even if the top layer is wool and with the added soft layer, the mattress will not get as soft and slow as you want it to be.
- You need to feel the pushback effect of springs – If springs are your choice, we recommend going for a different brand. All Sleep on Latex sleeping platforms are foam designs and, even though there is some bounciness from the organic latex composition, they won’t feel like springs.
Layers and Materials – Let’s Look Inside
The Pure Green mattress is focused on providing a natural fiber surface, with plenty of contour and support.
They also have two versions of the same product, according to the type of softness you need. There is the 7-inch product, with only two layers, and there is the 9-inch product with one additional layer. But let’s take a look at the first one (the 7-inch):
- Quilted Wool (1 inch) – This is the comfort layer, made with GOTS-certified organic New Zealand wool for extra softness and fantastic temperature and moisture control. Furthermore, wool is fire-resistant, which makes the Pure Green compliant with the regulations.
- The Base Layer (6 inches) – Natural latex foam from Sri Lanka made using the Dunlop process. The foam is highly responsive and doesn’t trap heat, making it one of the best surfaces you could want for a good night’s sleep.
Now, the 9-inch version of the Pure Green from Sleep on Latex has an additional soft layer, that’s 2 inches thick and is made of natural latex foam. This layer is situated underneath quilted wool and serves as a transition between the top and the base.
The layers in both versions are encased in a soft, luxurious cover, with a channel quilting pattern that is made of 100% organic cotton knit fabric. The cover is stretchy, so it stays in place regardless of how much you move, but it’s also durable and thin, allowing the layers inside to breathe freely.
We liked the fact that it can be easily removed as it is composed of two separate pieces united by a heavy-duty zipper (elegantly hidden from sight), and dry cleaned.
Rating the Firmness
Both Sleep on Latex versions features three levels of firmness so each customer can choose the one that fits their needs best. We reviewed the 7-inch medium mattress but learned more about the other surfaces and their feel by asking actual users for their opinion on the product.
The soft Sleep on Latex design is contouring and provides plenty of sinkage. Still, the latex foam is responsive so the surface will move with you. This means that movement won’t be transferred from one partner to the other and the sleeper will be comfy cozy.
However, if you prefer sleeping on top of all the layers instead of just sleeping in them, this version of softness may not be for you. It is still a good choice for sensitive side sleepers who like a bit more sinkage than usual.
The version of Sleep on Latex we reviewed is a combination of soft and firm, creating a medium surface. The design accommodates almost all positions and situations, and gives more bounce and less sinkage.
As per our review results and what we learned from other users, side sleepers and back sleepers would enjoy the medium version the most.
In this version, you will have a stronger latex feeling, which is nice as the bedding is bouncy and responsive. It is more tailored towards people who like a firmer feeling like stomach sleepers, but you should be warned – the surface is indeed firm and it doesn’t give in too much after several nights.
Does It Sleep Hot?
The wonderful result of combining natural materials is that you don’t have to worry about sleeping hot! So, the combination of natural latex, organic wool, and cotton is why Sleep on Latex doesn’t need any intricate cooling systems.
Natural fibers are just perfect when it comes to regulating the temperature and keeping you and your partner cozy and dry during the night, regardless of how hot it gets outside.
Edge Support
Latex is great in terms of flexibility and support, but when it comes to sitting on the edge (tying your shoes or simply getting out of bed), the mattress will have a bit of compression.
Still, if you like sleeping on the edge, you won’t feel like rolling out of bed – the surface remains still, and you can use every inch for yourself.
Other
- Free shipping & returns – The Sleep on Latex design comes rolled up in a box, and you don’t have to worry about paying for shipping or returns (if this is your decision).
- 10-year warranty on mattresses– The company is confident that their natural latex mattress will serve you well for a long period. This is why they support their product with a lengthy warranty period during which they cover any defects that are caused by a manufacturing flaw.
- Built locally – To make sure the quality remains unbeatable, the Sleep in Latex company does all the assembly in Chicago.
- 100 days money back guaranteed policy – If you decide the Sleep on Latex sleeping surface is not good for you, you have the possibility to return it and ask for a full refund.
