It’s always a good idea to know about the highest reviewed beds on the market. For one, we spend a lot of time in bed. Depending on what type of person you are, the duration can amount to upward eight hours a night. That’s quite some time if you think about it.
But it’s worth it. Sleep improves our health, wellbeing and emotional equilibrium. Have you ever felt grouchy after an appalling night’s rest? Was it the mattress, was it you or maybe you feel stressed because of work? Sleep deprivation is a vicious cycle that is fueled by our own perceptions and external factors. However, once you start doing your research or checking out bedding stores, it is easy to get flummoxed by the vast offering. The internet will probably inundate you with reviews galore. But can you trust any of it?
For these reasons, we wanted to give you a comprehensive overview of our best favorite full sized mattresses. Also, we will provide you with the information to choose the right size, material, and the firmness of beds. It’s mattress researching at its most comfortable.
Buying Guide for Full-Size Mattress Sleepers
Firm Vs. Soft
On the surface firm vs. full soft is a subjective matter. Some of us rather have a mattress we sink into, and others will like something that is harder. However, if you delve into the issue more thoroughly, firmness and softness are far more important than comfort and preference alone, for instance, you may want a slightly firmer to firm mattress depending on your sleeping position and body weight.
What a good bed needs to do is apply a degree of firmness to those body parts that require it. It depends on the position you sleep in. If you sleep on the side, for example, the hips need a firmer surface so that they are supported. The shoulders, on the other hand, need softness to be able to sink into the bed for optimal straight spinal alignment – check out our buyer’s guide if you need a softer bed.
For back sleepers it’s the opposite – the shoulder area must be firm, and the place around the buttocks must be softer. So don’t forget to think about this when you are sleeping on the full type bed.
Stomach sleepers need adjustment for the natural arc on the back to avoid pain. The top-rated mattress caters to such body contouring.
Organic Vs. Non-Organic
Organic vs. non-organic is a purely subjective matter. Some of us swear by manmade materials because of their anti-microbial properties. Take a memory foam bed or a synthetic latex mattress both are high-quality in their own right. However, it is important to make sure that the materials used in the bedding’s composition are not harmful or detrimental to the environment.
Purely organic beds are gaining in popularity. Bio-latex is sourced to one hundred percent from the sap of trees. It may not be ideal if you are allergic to natural rubber. But if that is not the case, you get something extremely durable and eco-friendly. Only be aware that such products do tend to be expensive.
In some instances, hybrids come in both guises. We will look into the different material types in a next section.
Other Sizes You Should Consider
Twin
What size to consider very much depends on what you need. The Twin is mainly bought for children and teenagers or for bunk beds. Another place where they are prevalent is in the RV. Before making any buying decision, it is best to be aware of the sizes.
They vary in size marginally. The basic Twin is 38 x 75 inches and is ideal for your kid or maybe a vacation home guestroom. Then you have the Twin XL that measures 38 x 80. The latter option has extra length for taller people – you might want to choose it if you know that your child is going to grow and you are not sure how much.
As we mentioned on the onset, a Twin mattress has its limitations because of how narrow it is. You won’t be able to share a Twin sized bed. For the greatest type, check out our twin mattress buyer’s guide to be sure.
Queen
We are getting larger in size as we move along. The Queen sized bed is ideal for young couples. We say young because it is the bed many young people start out with when they move out of the family home. It is the perfect bed if you have limited space in your bedroom or studio apartment but still want to share with your partner and have more space than a regular double.
Measuring 60 x 80 inches, it offers about 7 inches more width and 5 inches more length than standard double. It is the most popular type of bed on the market. If used conjointly with another person, you get about 30 inches of personal space on the mattress. Just note that you have 8 inches less of width than if you slept alone on a Twin.
The Queen is also excellent if you sleep alone just like the full model. You get added space for chilling.

King
The King is the pinnacle of luxury and space. It’s apparently perfect for couples. And if you have space in your bedroom, then you have a mattress that will provide you and your partner with plenty of restful nights without disturbing the each other.
At 76 by 80 inches, the King is about sixteen inches wider than a Queen. With 38 inches of personal space, it’s sleeping on your own on a Twin. Some people prefer spate mattresses, so they push tow Twins together, it’s about the same size as a King.
There are a few things you need to be aware of before you go out there and ordering one. First, make sure that you take all of the measurements correctly. You don’t want to get stuck in the hall or a door while moving the bed to the bedroom. Another thing to consider is the weight. It might be heavy if you want to flip it from time to time.
Type of Materials
Memory Foam
NASA’s brainchild and a favorite among more and more people as it grows in popularity. It’s not surprising though. Memory foam is among the top-rated beddings, and the reviews shout their acclaim.
It all depends on the brand of course. Producers use different types of materials. In many cases, it is CertiPUR-US certified, and that is a mark to watch out for as it involves eco-friendly and nor harmful content in the bed.
Foam is a bit like magic really. The viscoelastic surface adapts to the shape of the body when it comes into contact with body heat – in the shortest of time, contouring takes place, and your physique is cradled like a baby. And thanks to advances in technology, the much-despised heating up effect is gone. Most brands now have breathable beds that transport air and moisture away.
Hybrid
The hybrid mattress is like the hybrid car that works on both electricity and petrol. In the case of the bed, various materials are used in its composition to create the perfect sleeping surface. By using all of the advantages there are, hybrid brands are of the opinion they offer a far superior product.
You can find the hybrid in the form of an amalgamation of innerspring and memory foam. This type of bed uses traditional spring technology for firmer edges and firmer support while the memory foam element provides contouring.
Or latex and foam blends or latex and innerspring. The sky is the limit when it comes to the crossovers. The good thing about hybrids is that you can get them for low prices and enjoy the benefits of materials you might not be able to afford. Like with memory foam be aware of the material composition before you buy – do some reviewing first.
Latex
Latex is made out of high-end latex foam and one of the luxurious options out there. Prices are always on the high side and can get quite lofty depending on the brand. If you review carefully, you might be able to get your hands on a good deal. But before you do that, let’s have a look at the various latex variants.
Latex rubber comes in two forms. The traditional and all natural one discovered and pioneered by a gentleman called Murphy in the UK in the early nineteen hundreds involves Dunlop processing – latex material is sourced from tree sap. It is all very eco-friendly and high-end. You just have to be sure whether you are allergic to natural rubber.
On the other side of the coin, latex is also derived synthetically from petroleum-based materials. There’s nothing wrong with that, especially the price. But synthetic does off-gass more than natural.
All in all, latex mattresses offer good sleeping quality – they got to for that price.
Innerspring (Coil)
The old boy in the bed race. The innerspring mattress has been with us for as long as we can remember and that is not a bad thing. Why change something when it works so well? It is still the most popular type of mattress in the world and used by millions and millions of people.
A spring mattress involves individual pockets containing springs that alternate to the shape of your body. You can get them in any firmness level and for any price – innerspring is the cheapest, but like latex, it can also be the most expensive, it all depends on the brand and their promise.
If you are a fan, you will most probably stay with one. Just note that the innerspring is not as good when it comes to fending off dust mite invasions and mildew. If you must go for innerspring, make sure you have a good mattress cover.

Puffy – Best Overall Value
Features:
- Firm support

- Zip and wash cover for extra hygiene
- CertiPUR-US Certificate – no lousy stuff inside
Our Ratings: 9.5/10
Whoever thought that only two layers of foam could feel like you are sleeping on a tower of plushness and support. Well, Puffy sure did come up with something in this mattress. The moment you down on this bed, you will feel the surface take on the contours of your body. We moved around a lot to test how well it worked.
To say the least – it was the best! The mattress quickly adapted to each new position immediately. So much so in fact that it was a challenge to move again. Once calmness set in, it was impossible not to notice the patent-pending cloud cooling working its magic. Any excess body heat and moisture that may have arisen was transported away as if it never even existed.
Also, the firm support core kept the body in place comfortably. Getting out was easy too thanks to the edge that keeps the body steady in an upright position on the side.

The Layla’s full mattress has four layers of memory foam two of which are infused with copper elements. The metal is a revolutionary bedding technique to distribute heat away from the body for the excellent and refreshing night’s rest.
All mattresses layers work in collusion, but the convoluted support foam and the base foam (the other two layers) offer the high-level of sleeping comfort thought contouring.
