Our Comprehensive Analysis & Review of Eva Mattress for 2021 (Discount)

We recently reviewed the Eva mattress, one of the brands that promote a one-size-fits-all product, with features from both foam and innerspring beds. As you’ve probably guessed by now, Eva has a hybrid design, but the company boasts about it being the best to buy under $1000.

If we consider the inner structure that contains natural latex, cooling memory foam, micro-springs, and a system of individually pocketed spring, Eva may just as well be one of the best on the market.  The combination may not be a novelty in the industry, but it’s the quality of the materials that make the difference.

So, are they right? Is Eva the best? Read our detailed impressions of the product below or check our summary here for a quick review.

Only Purchase Eva Bed If You

  • Like the pushback action of springs – Eva is a hybrid surface so yes, the action of springs will be quite pronounced. This means the bed will be bouncy and flexible, which is perfect for most activities that happen in the bedroom.
  • Are looking to find a high-value product – All the materials used to build this product are high quality and the price is extremely affordable. So, you’ll get a lot of bang for your buck.
  • Want a hassle-free shopping process – There’s nothing more annoying than spending several days going from showroom to showroom and dealing with salespeople who try to trick you into buying an expensive product. The company removed all that and gives you a chance to make the purchase from the comfort of your home.
  • Like a mattress that has it all – Eva has both foam and springs and comes with the best features in all these surfaces.
  • Don’t like a surface that sleeps hot – The presence of natural latex and springs in the same surface ensures you of a good ventilation system.

Don’t Purchase Eva Mattress If You

  • Want an all-foam mattress – Considering there are two different spring layers inside Eva, you can’t expect to feel like an all foam mattress. So if this is what your heart wants, you should consider a different brand.
  • Don’t trust a hybrid surface – While a combination of foam and coils may seem a bit weird at first, it definitely works when it comes to creating a fantastic level of comfort.
  • Like a surface without foam – If you’re looking for a bed with natural fibers, this is not it. This product does contain natural latex, but there’s also memory foam (CertiPUR-US certified). Still, you should be prepared, as all natural platforms are quite expensive.

Quick Thoughts on the Materials, Layers, and Construction

Overview of Mattress Materials and Construction

The surface is quite complex on the inside, as it features a five-layer construction:

  • Gel Memory Foam – The top layer is there to ensure contouring and softness for the sleeper, but also to keep the entire surface cool (the gel infusions are amazing at this). It is great for people who need pressure relief and for side sleepers.
  • Natural Latex – Placed right beneath the soft foam, the layer of latex is there to provide support and firmness. It’s also bouncy and keeps microbes and dust mites away from the rest of the layers.
  • Micro Springs – Eva features two layers of springs. The first one is designed to provide good ventilation through the top layers and provide pressure relief and lumbar support.
  • Density Foam – This layer is sandwiched between the two spring areas, so its main role is to make the transition. However, it’s also good at providing some extra firmness and high-end comfort.
  • Five Zone Pocket Spring – This is the layer in charge with motion isolation, as the pockets react individually under pressure. It’s also in charge of variable support as the five zones signify different areas with springs that react differently when you lay on top. It’s also important to know that the springs closer to the edge are stronger, to provide good edge support.

The cover is smooth and breathable, but it can’t be removed for cleaning. However, you can consider spot cleaning in case of an accident (just make sure to not use too much water).

Level of Firmness

Eva – Firmness Level: 6.5/10

Given Eva is a one-size-fits-all product, it’s only natural that it will promote a medium level of firmness. During our review, we tested different positions and sleepers, and most of them were happy with the surface.

However, if you are a side sleeper who needs a softer bed, this snooze surface may feel too firm. Also, stomach sleepers who need a firm surface should consider a different brand.

Our Cooling Thoughts

Airflow with Sleeping Cool Effect

While reviewing Eva, we were extremely interested by the level of temperature. However, the mattress had no overheating issues, even when outside was quite hot.

This is due to the breathable cover, the layer of gel-infused memory foam, and the two layers of springs. Not to mention that natural latex is well-known for its cooling properties.

So, with four out of five layers that promote a cool sleeping surface, there is no way this surface will get hot during the night!

Edge Support

A Look at Eva Edge

Most hybrid designs are quite good when it comes to edge support, but the manufacturer paid special attention to this aspect.

To make sure you won’t roll out of bed in case your partner banishes you to the very edge, the coils on the side are more powerful. This way, they make up for the lack of support and keep the edge correctly shaped.

There may be some compression when you sit up or when you get out of bed, but this is normal since all your weight is focused in a smaller area of the surface. However, the compression will disappear the moment you remove the pressure.

Other

  • Low-maintenance product – Eva can be installed on any surface (even the floor) as long as it is flat and solid.
  • A 120-night trial for all mattresses – Like most beds-in-a-box, Eva comes with an extended trial period that gives you the chance to test it over two seasons. Take advantage of this time and make sure this is the best product for you.
  • Free Shipping & returns – Since we are talking about an Australian company, the free shipping and return offer is available only in Australia.
  • CertiPUR-US foams – All the foam included inside the mattress is made according to the latest standard, without the use of harmful chemicals.
  • Giving back to the community – For every ten products sold, the company donates one brand new snooze surface to a local shelter.
  • 12 years warranty on mattresses – As long as the product has been properly used, the warranty covers a visible sagging or indentation greater than 30mm.

Summary

The idea of a hybrid bed is not new, but Eva managed to improve on it with the double pocket spring layer and open cell structure foam that create a perfectly ventilated inner structure. This way, the mattress is capable of staying cold even in the hot Australian weather, which is indeed impressive.

While we reviewed the Eva, we were pleasantly surprised by the nice, soft cover, and we enjoyed the gentle bounce of the springs. The foam in the top layers is quite nice as it adds a bit of softness and contouring to the surface, reducing the firmness level to a nice medium.

Overall, Eva is a remarkable product in the niche and should be considered whenever you’re looking for an affordable snooze surface.
